Paseando por el Centro / Walking through the Center - Sao Paulo

Todo el mundo te recomienda que si visitas el Centro de Sao Paulo debes extremar las precauciones de seguridad. La verdad es que estuve paseando todo el día por el centro histórico y no tuve mayor sensación de inseguridad que en otras ciudades europeas. Everybody recommends you that if you are visiting SP Centro you must extreme security measures. The truth is that I was walking the whole day through the historical center and I had no more sense of danger than in other European cities.

La primera parada por supuesto es el Mercado Municipal, de donde hay que destacar las increibles fruterías, llenas de color, olor y sabor y donde te ofrecen probar gratis sus innumebrable productos. Ahora mismo es tiempo de ...cerezas!También es famoso aquí comer Pastel de Bacalhao o el bocadillo de mortadela que no te cabe en la boca!

Atención! el local tradicional esta en la primera planta... 

First stop of course was the town market, where we should mention the incredible fruit shops, full of color, smell and taste and where you are freely offered to test their products. Right now it's time of... cherries! Is also famous here Bacalhao Cake or Mortadela sandwich that does not fit in your mouth! Attention! the traditional local is on the first floor...

Saliendo del mercado uno puede pasear por las calles adyacentes, sobre todo por la del 25 de Março donde hay cientos de bazares, tiendas y vendedores ambulantes vendiendo de todo y vociferando sus productos  los cuatro vientos. Leaving the market one can stroll through the surrounding streets, especially in the 25th Março where there are hundreds of bazaars, shops and street vendors selling all its products and shouting from the rooftops.

Está repleta de gente, de vagabundos también y seguramente de carteristas, pero por cierto también hay muchas patrullas de Policía caminando entre la gente. Perdiéndote por calles y callejones (muchos con una pendiente considerable)llegas a la Iglesia de Sao Bento, un santo importante por aqui, desde donde se extiende una gran zona peatonal para pasear, tomar un café o comprar. It is plenty of people, homeless and also pickpockets, but certainly there are many police patrols on foot among the people. Missing out on the streets and alleys (many with considerable slope) arrive at the Church of Sao Bento, a saint important here, where there is a large pedestrian area to stroll, have a coffee or buy.

La siguiente parada no puede ser otra que la plaza llamada del Pateo do Collegio, donde se ubica la antigua misión y colegio fundado por los Jesuitas que dió origen a la ciudad de Sao Paulo en 1554. Se conserva la iglesia (reconstruida) y el museo del Padre José de Anchieta uno de los Jesuitas fundadores.
Next stop can not be other than the Plaza del Pateo do Collegio, where is the old mission school founded by the Jesuits who came up with the city of Sao Paulo in 1554. It peserves the church and the museum of Padre Jose de Anchieta one of the founders Jesuits.

Junto a esta plaza se encuentra la también famosa campana de la paz erigida para conmemorar la llegada del siglo XXI  y para concienciar a la población de la necesidad de luchar contra la violencia. Aqui me véis tocando la campana y uniéndoe a la campaña contra la violencia que desde 1999 se puso en marcha en Brasil con notorios resultados positivos. In one side of this square is located the famous peace bell erected to commemorate the arrival of the XXI century and to raise awareness of the need to combat violence. Here you see me playing the bell and joining in the campaign against violence since 1999, launched in Brazil with notable positive results.
Bueno y llegamos a la Plaza de Se, donde se encuentra la catedral (o Se) de Sao Paulo, impresionante edificio, pero también impresionante lo que te puedes encontrar en la plaza, borrachos, drogadictos, vagabundos, pordioseros pidiendote de todo, la verdad un poco agobiante. En fin vale la pena visitar la Catedral y admirar tanto la estatua de Jose de Anchieta como la preciosa estatua de San Pablo que fue donada a la ciudad por una famosa aseguradora hace pocos años.

Well kkep walkng and you arrive to  Plaza de Se, where is the SP cathedral, impressive building, but also amazing what you can find in the square, drunks, drug addicts, tramps, beggars asking you all, the truth a little overwhelming. Well worth visiting the Cathedral and admire both the statue of Jose de Anchieta and the beautiful statue of St. Paul that was donated to the city by a famous insurance company a few years ago.

Hay muchas más cosas que ver en el centro como el Teatro Municipal, el Museo de Arte Moderno o la Pinacoteca, pero eso ya lo dejamos para otro día! Un abrazo a todos! Deseemos dulces sueños a uno de los habitantes tipicos de esta zona...No molesten por favor!

There are many more things to see in the center as the Municipal Theatre, the Museum of Modern Art or the Pinacoteca (Art Gallery), but we leave that for another day! Hugs to all! Let's wish sweet dreams to one of the typical inhabitants of this area...do not disturb please!
