Sao Paulo: Ciudad de contrastes / City of contrasts

Sao Paulo es una ciudad de contrastes, originalmente se construyó con casas bajas de solo una o dos alturas y con la expansión se han ido construyendo miles de edificios altos en medio de las casas, aunque todavía quedan muchísimas en casi todas las calles. Aqui teneis por ejemplo un condominio de dos torres y justo al lado podemos encontrar este pequeño conjunto de casas cuyos dueños seguro esperan...una buena oferta!

Sao Paulo is a city of contrasts, originally was built with low houses of only one or two levels and with the expansion have been built thousands of high buildings in the middle of the houses, although there are still many of them in almost every street. Here you have for example a two-tower condo and right beside can be found this small group of houses whose owners expect ... a good deal!

Otra de las cosas realmente peculiares aquí son las pintadas de los "pixadores", banda organizadas de jóvenes que se dedican a subir a los edificios y dejar huella de sus inscripciones, utilizando un lenguaje secreto que en teoría solo ellos conocen. Lo cierto es que da pena ver tantos edificios pintados así, algunos en su totalidad. Aunque la actividad ahora está perseguida por la Ley normalmente estas bandas efectúan "acciones" de una forma coordinada evitando la actuación de la Policía. Aqui al lado por ejemplo tenéis un edificio entero "pixado" en pleno centro de la ciudad de Sao Paulo, o la típica pared con la enigmática escritura de extraños signos.

Another really unique thing here are the graffiti of "pixadores" organized gangs of young people who climb up to the buildings and leave traces of their inscriptions, using a secret language that only they know in theory. The truth is that is ashaming to see so many buildings painted, some in full. Although the activity is now pursued by the law usually these bands perform "actions" in a coordinated manner avoiding action by the police. Here for example you have an entire building "pixado" in the heart of the city of Sao Paulo or the typical wall with the writing of strange enigmatic signs.

Y siguiendo con los contrastes, mejor nos pasamos al lado bonito de la moneda y nos llegamos el barrio de Ipiranga para visitar los Jardines de la Independencia y el precioso palacio neoclásico que alberga el Museo Paulista, o Museo de Ipiranga, que explica de una manera super interesante la historia de Brasil desde su independencia cuando el Príncipe Regente portugués Pedro I gritó la famosa frase "independencia o Muerte", momento reflejado magistralmente por un pintor local en el enorme cuadro que puede verse en el salón principal del museo. Tanto el propio majestuoso edificio, como los cuadros, objetos y documentos históricos que contiene son un testimonio privilegiado de este país que por supuesto vale la pena conocer.

Continuing with the contrasts, the better is moving to the pretty side of the coin and we get the Ipiranga neighborhood to visit the Gardens of Independence and the beautiful neoclassical palace that houses the Museu Paulista, or Ipiranga Museum, which explains in a super interesting way the Brazilian history since independence when the Portuguese Prince Regent Pedro I shouted the famous phrase "independence or death", reflected brilliantly in the huge paintingthat can be seen in the main hall of the museum. Both the majestic building itself, such as pictures, objects and historical documents it contains are an extraordinary witness of this country which of course is worth knowing.

Y para finalizar recordaros que estamos en plenas vacaciones de carnaval. Uno puede quedarse en casa, mezclarse en fiestas callejeras, ir a escuchar samba a un loca, apuntarse a alguna de las muchas fiestas que organizan los hoteles, clubs y discotecas, o simplemente, sino te gusta la samba...irte a escuchar jazz o blues ya que también hay excelentes sitios para disfrutarlo.
