Llego a Chicago a las 6 am y una limusine me deja tirado una hora más tarde en Downtown, con maletas, en medio de la lluvia y a oscuras. Unica solución: refugiarme en un Starbooks y conectarme a internet!

Cuando el tiempo mejora y la vida retorna a la ciudad, inicio mi paseo y comienzo a enamorarme de esta increible ciudad. Camino por la Magnificient Mile, por la rivera del lago Michigan y subo a la torre Hanckok. Junto a los impresionantes rascacielos puedes encontrar edificios clásicos muy bien conservados, lo que constituye una mezcla muy interesante.

I arrive in Chicago at 6 am and a limousine pulled me an hour later in Downtown, with suitcases, it's raining and dark. Only solution: take refuge in a Starbooks and connect to the internet!
When the weather improves and life returns to the city, I begin my walk and I start to fall in love with this amazing city. I walk down the Magnificent Mile, on the banks of Lake Michigan and climb to the tower Hanckok. Alongside the impressive skyscrapers you can find well-preserved classical buildings, which is a very interesting mix.

Las vistas desde el piso 94 de la Hanckok Tower son impresionantes, hasta puedes ver algún helicóptero volando...por debajo tuyo.

Hay un restaurante y también una historia de la ciudad muy bien explicada, desde su inicio como punto de comunicación norte-sur, el boom industrial, el gran incendio de 1871, la exposición universal de 1893, y el fantástico desarrollo arquitectónico posterior de esta ciudad.

 

 

 

The views from the floor 94 of Tower Hanckok are awesome, until you see a helicopter flying ... below you.
There is a restaurant and also a history of the city very well explained, since its inception as a north-south communication, the industrial boom, the Great Fire of 1871, the Universal Exhibition of 1893, and the fantastic architectural development of this city.

 

El porque en esta ciudad se dan cita tantos edificios de arquitectura espectacular es algo que desconozco, pero es una realidad que puede apreciarse con solo pasear por el Downtown.

 

Why this city brings together so many spectacular architectural buildings is something I ignore, but is a reality that can be seen by simply walking in the Downtown.

En cualquier caso es una ciudad de obligada visita para los que aman la arquitectura, la construcción y sencillamente el arte de llenar el espacio! Félix: has de venir aquí!

In any case it is a must-see city for those who love architecture, construction and the simply art of fill the space!

Y por la tarde de compras por Michigan Ave donde se encuentran todas las tiendas y marcas más famosas del mundo, y algunos Malls como el Tower House que están muy bien. Los precios no son baratos pero por supuesto son mejores que en España y que en Brasil !! Para no perder la tradición me compré unas camisas no iron en Brooks Brothers...

Allí también podeis encontrar la super Marilyn con faldas y a lo loco!

And in the afternoon, go shopping on Michigan Ave where you can find all the shops and world famous brands, and some malls like Tower House who are very good. Prices are not cheap but of course are better than in Spain and in Brazil! To keep the tradition I bought some no iron shirts at Brooks Brothers...There you can also find the super Marilyn with Some Like It Hot!

Y lo mejor es que coincidí allí con la celebración del Día de San Patricio, patrón de Irlanda, y que se celebra en Chicago por todo lo alto. Todo el mundo se viste de verde, algunos de una forma un poco estrafalaria, y la gente sale a la calle para ver el famoso desfile, beber cerveza hasta no poder más y contemplar como el río se tiñe...de verde como podéis ver en la foto. Bueno la verdad...me encontré con Marc Ebri, que está trabajando aqui en Zurcih Norteamérica, y nos bebimos algunas cervezas juntos antes de irme pitando hacia el aeropuerto para volver a Sao Paulo!

The best part is that there coincided with the celebration of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, and held in Chicago in style. Everyone dresses in green, some of it a bit quirky, and people take to the streets to watch the famous parade, drinking beer til you drop and watch as the river is dyed green ... as you can see in the photo.To tell all the truth I met there Marc Ebri, who is currently working in Zurich NorthAmérica, and we drank together some beers before having to go to the airport to come back here in Sao Paulo!
