Relatively close to Sao Paulo to the north of the state lies San Sebastiao around which 33 beaches scattered very different but all very nice. Knowing them is a mission quite amazing ... but you have to take it easy. Montse, my wife went to Juquehy, 156 km from SP, and from there explore ...

Juquehy is one of the best places to go because it is a quiet beach, with low houses and no agglomeration, but also has shops, restaurants and some wonderful pousadas. We settled on Chez Louise et Louis, but others are fine as the Pousada dos Alcatrazes. From there, a few kilometers to go to Praia Preta, very nice, but the best is that there are fishing boats that take you to the deserted islands in fornt As Ilhas and pick you up when you tell them. It is a wonder!

If you just want more movement and fun then reach up to Camboury or Maresias, where thera are many young people, bars and nightclubs, although beaches are longer and more crowded. We instead prefered to visit other quieter beaches such as Engenho and Jureia. It is impressive to see how the vegetation (Atlantic Forest) goes to the beach sand!

But, of course the best is having spent a weekend with Montse after more than a month without seeing each other, in a pleasant and beautiful context. Able to walk at night along the deserted beach, take a few caipirinhas by the sea, or just have time to be together without talking through the Facetime or Skype, is priceless. She looks happy, isn't she? Please come back soon!

From Los Angeles going through Dallas I took a flight to Buenos Aires where I arrived in a sunny Sunday: there is summer, it is warm and they have good weather. For an Spanish altough Catalan like me arriving to this city is like geting into a familiar place, despite many things are diferent....even there is a neighbourhood called Montserrat. The tower of the picture used to be calle of the English but its name was changed after the Malvinas war and a memorial for the fallen in that war has been located just in front of it.

You should think that I went there as a tourist but the truth is tha together with my Claims team there we worked hard the five working days. All right, on Saturday Natalia invite us to her countryside house and enjoy the traditional Argentinian "asado", with all its different cuts grilled with wood, with a superb "parrillero"! A little bit of swiming pool, a little bit of ping pong, a lot of meat, some "mate" and a fantastic day at few miles form the city.

Calle Florida

And finally on Sunday I went to visit Buenos Aires with the Tourist Bus, visiting all the main districts. It is interesting in the downtown area to see the Plaza de Mayo, where citizens are having continuous demonstrations of any kind, or the neighborhood of La Boca, where in addition to famous La Bombonera stadium of Boca Juniors, is the area Caminito street with all kinds of artists, restaurants and shops and small houses painted in bright colors ... unfortunately just there the battery of my camera run out!

Without detracting from the Montserrat, San Telmo, Retiro, Palermo and Belgrano neighbourhoods, Recoleta is my favorite one with its stately mansions, tree-lined streets, its cemetery, the church of El Pilar, its street artists and performers, restaurants and terraces.

And among them the best in my opinion "La Biela" for its terrace, its decor, service and location. Here you have some Recoleta scenes that I feel they deserve be shared with you...tango dancers included!
Going back to Sao Paulo now, see you soon!

And we flew to Los Angeles through Dallas with American Airlines where all the flight attendants could be my grandmother, for her age and for being so smart. Los Angeles is a lying city, huge, and has only skyscrapers in the downtown, where is located our hotel, Westin Bonaventure on Figueroa St. Here you can not go just about anywhere without a car, but still the first afternoon I went for a walk in downtown, where I could buy something at Macy's and dinner at an Italian restaurant pretty good. Above the hotel and at the right the view from my room in the 24th floor.

You can do many things in Los Angeles, for example, going to  Universal Studios, because here is Hollywood, the mecca of American cinema; in St Hollywood are the famous artists stars in the ground, and the wax museum of  Madame Tussaud's, which we visited, virtually dedicated only to the stars of cinema. Here I am with Julia Roberts...
And certainly is worthy visiting Beverly Hills, with its luxury houses, streets and shops, particularly on Rodeo Drive. Restaurant Recommendation: Mastro's Steakhouse on Canon Drive St., where they serve excellent meat, live music, great atmosphere and where you can find any artist. For example, we met David Beckham having dinner with friends. Here in front  the famous 4 Seasons Hotel.

Venice Beach, which highlights its bohemian atmosphere and surfing. But we went to Santa Monica, a beautiful area of beach with its famous pier, rides and seafood restaurants.

And finally a restaurant recommendation in Santa Monica: The Lobster, excellent grilled lobster, good sights on the beach and excellent service as everywhere in this country, really. Here you see me with my ex colleagues from in Spain that I met in LA: Julian, Xavi and Jordi. Thank you for your that pleasent time.

Los Angeles is next to the Pacific Ocean and along the coast is a succession of famous beaches.

Sampa

Christmas Holidays ended and back to Sampa (Sao Paulo local slang). Traffic is better these days because they coincide with school summer holidays, but not imagine heat and sun, but rather rain, clouds and warm temparature....
My followers liked guessing where was located statue of the fox and the eagle; solution is Ciutadella Park in Barcelona. So then here you have my second one inquiry: in which monument of Sao Paulo may you find a piano in the main lobby?

These days I am with my Mexican colleague Ricardo, therefore dinners are more amazing and nights more pleasent...

A restaurant with a lot of green inside, very good meal, excellent service and a complete wine list. Very good relationship price/quality.

Besides working we decided with Ricardo to know a couple of interesting public spaces in downtown Sao Paulo. Here you have us, Ricardo and me, next to the first of them: Estaçao da Luz, a train station that has over a hundred years old (opened in 1901) and whose main attraction is that it has a clock tower Big Ben imitating the one in London.

Opposite there is our second goal of the day: the Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo where there are permanent exhibitions of Brazilian art, primarily, of course, painting exhibitions. Saturday admission was free and we could see many fine paintings by artists unknown in Europe but very representative of the art here. Special mention to the monographic of the Italian-Brazilian painter Eliseu Visconti. Well the picture above of the black woman is not from him, but it's amazing ...

Here you have all three of us enjoying a nice meal and conversation, just before heading back Ricardo to Mexico and I start preparing the bags for my next step ... Los Angeles, California, U.S. ... to attend a leadership convention of  Zurich Insurance ... see you soon!

Navidades en casa / Christmas at home

Already said in the song: come back home for Christmas... so then straight to Barcelona and spend the holidays with my family and friends. The 23th with my friends of Sant Ignasi at Lluis home, 24th Midnight Mass and dinner at home with the family of Montse, 25th Christmas lunch at my in-laws, dinner at my mother ... the kilos lost and the tanning won in Sao Paulo fading ... galets soup, sweets, cava, red wine (Rioja), stuffed capon, too much for the body ... it has been necessary to go to my house in Alp for a few days to recover.

In the Cerdanya, climate change is evident, with virtually no snow in the mountains, or at least enough to crave skiing, a dazzling sun, blue and clear sky, and therefore walking along the trails  with Montse, between poplars along the river Segre, as if time had stopped, like a breath of marital freedom that fate has given us

Back in Barcelona to celebrate the New Year with my friends, each of our three children in three different parties, we get older and they are becoming increasingly independent as the years pass and each December 31 reminds us in bold and underlined ... but there are four pairs of friends, eating, drinking, laughing and dancing as if time were not with us ... each with our problems and circumstances, but they are parked and forgotten for a few hours to make room for grapes, music and friendship.

And finally back to my bike, two months to get on it and go around Barcelona from west to east, from north to south, looking for scraps of my life, pieces of my story, hidden corners that almost nobody knows and I remember where they are my roots, where I spent most of my life and where one day I will be back to walk slowly to let me caressed by the Mediterranean sun, to pay tribute to those who unknowingly were shaping my heart, ever restless and pilgrim ..
